A Druid Bog Oak Pen Finds Its Way to Áras an Uachtaráin

Every Druid Heritage Designs pen has a story. Recently, one of those stories took us somewhere rather special — Áras an Uachtaráin.

We had the pleasure of sending one of our handmade Irish bog oak pens as a gift to the President of Ireland, Catherine Connolly.

The pen was handcrafted here in the west of Ireland from ancient Irish bog oak — timber that has lain preserved beneath the Irish landscape for thousands of years. We felt it was a fitting gift: something genuinely Irish, made by hand, with a connection to the land and history of Ireland.

We were therefore delighted to receive an official card from the President's office, with the message:

“Thank you most sincerely for your kind gift. Your thoughtfulness and generosity are very much appreciated.”

Receiving the card was a lovely surprise and one that will certainly be treasured.

Our pens have travelled to customers around the world over the years, marking birthdays, graduations, retirements, anniversaries and other important occasions. Knowing that one of our bog oak pens has now also found a home at Áras an Uachtaráin is something we're particularly proud of.

It is a small reminder of what we have always hoped to create at Druid Heritage Designs: not simply a pen, but a little piece of Ireland that can be given, kept and remembered for years to come.
