Each pendant brings together three materials, each representing an element of Ireland's natural heritage: bog oak for the timeless land, leather for the animals that have lived upon it, and sterling silver for the bounty of the surrounding sea.
Three delicate dots of sterling silver are individually inlaid into the ancient wood. The number three has long held a special place in Irish culture, mythology and storytelling. It appears in threefold symbols, ancient tales and the familiar three leaves of the shamrock. Three can represent past, present and future; land, sea and sky; or birth, life and renewal. Its meaning is deliberately open, allowing each wearer to find a significance of her own.
